We’re thrilled to announce that we have chosen Emmanuel House as our charity of the year. Emmanuel House supports vulnerable adults within Nottingham, with many of their service users either homeless, rough sleeping, those in a crisis, and those at risk of homelessness. As an independent charity, they are in constant need of donations from businesses and individuals in order to continue doing their life-changing work.
Emmanuel House runs a support centre in the city, which enables their service users to access basic amenities, like showers, clean clothes and hot food, which they would otherwise go without.
Alongside these immediate comforts, they also offer more long-term support, giving the vulnerable and homeless a chance to improve their situations. Their staff support service users in arranging and attending hospital appointments, provide tenancy support for those at risk of repeat homelessness, arrange haircuts from professional barbers and offer vital mental health support.
Support the winter appeal
Their Winter Shelter is opening on the 17th October, in just four weeks time, for a total of twenty-five weeks, and will be providing short-term emergency accommodation and relief for those subject to the unforgiving British winter this year.
This year, Emmanuel House is calling on members of the community to donate any food they can, so their service users can enjoy warm, nutritious food this winter. Staff and volunteers will be working hard to make three meals a day over the 25 weeks – a potential 12,600 meals over the whole winter season – but it’s only possible with generosity from the community.

Our partnership
All of us Hallamers are really excited to support Emmanuel House through a variety of projects, this will stem across a bunch of team fundraising events like donating the profits from our next annual Nottingham Digital Summit event, running a Hallam food drive, and donating clothes – we might even make our CEO sleep on a field in November… And, of course, we’ll be helping in the way we know best: using our digital skills to extend awareness and support for the charity.
Speaking of the new partnership, Jake Third, our Managing Director, said: “I’m excited to see how the Hallam team use their digital skills and creative brains to increase support and donations for the incredible work that Emmanuel House does, helping those in need.”
We’ve already begun with an office clothes swap last week: donating all leftover clothes to Emmanuel House, and also picking up a few preloved pieces ourselves, with the hope of encouraging our team to shop more sustainably.
Lauren Howatson, Marketing and Fundraising Officer at Emmanuel House, said: “We are so excited that Hallam has chosen us as their charity partner. Corporate supporters play a huge part in our marketing and fundraising efforts and we’re really proud to be working with such a skilled and talented organisation. Hallam’s support will not only benefit the organisation through fundraising and physical donations, but also their ‘skills donations’ will offer us advice and support from their wealth of knowledge and experience in digital marketing.”
